1. Role Purpose
Own the end-to-end engineering and launch of the Electrode Mixing and Wet Mixing (slurry preparation) area for a multi-GWh Li-ion cell manufacturing plant (LFP and NMC; prismatic/cylindrical). The role is the single point of contact (SPOC) for mixing equipment from RFP and design review through FAT, installation, commissioning, SAT, process validation and ramp-up, and builds the documentation and process discipline needed for stable, high-volume production.
2. Key Responsibilities
Equipment Engineering & Procurement Support
- Prepare technical specifications and RFPs for electrode mixing, slurry transfer, NMP/solvent handling and related systems; support techno-commercial evaluation of OEMs.
- Lead design reviews (2D/3D, safety, layout, interlocks) with OEMs and technology partners, including Chinese equipment suppliers.
- Plan and execute FAT at supplier premises (including overseas) and SAT at site; define acceptance criteria and close punch lists.
Installation, Commissioning & Launch
- Manage installation activities: utility readiness, equipment alignment, interlock verification, dry/wet runs and process validation.
- Drive launch-readiness for the electrode mixing area and support ramp-up to target capacity and process stability.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Civil, Electrical, Utilities, Automation, EHS, Quality and Production teams.
Process & Systems
- Support MES integration for electrode process data, recipe control and production traceability.
- Develop SOPs, Work Instructions, PFMEA, Control Plans, TABRA and equipment standards.
- Carry out layout planning and material-flow optimisation for electrode manufacturing areas.
- Lead RCA / Why-Why analysis for equipment and process issues; drive engineering change implementation.
Project Governance
- Manage CAPEX/OPEX budgets, schedules (MS Project) and vendor/OEM performance.
- Report project status, risks and deviations to senior management.
3. Qualifications & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma + B.E. pathway acceptable).
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing/equipment engineering, of which 3+ years in Li-ion cell manufacturing, specifically electrode mixing / slurry preparation.
- Hands-on experience in at least one greenfield project: FAT, installation, commissioning and SAT of mixing equipment.
- Experience working with Chinese OEMs and technology partners; willingness to travel to China for FAT/training.
- Background in maintenance, machine installation and leveling is an advantage.
4. Technical Skills
- Electrode mixing and wet mixing systems; slurry handling.
- FAT / SAT / I&C procedures; MES integration basics.
- PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP, APQP, IATF 16949, OEE / TPM.
- AutoCAD, MS Project; CAPEX/OPEX management; layout and facility design.
