Position: Project Business Manager – Solar

Role Summary
The Project Business Manager – Solar will be responsible for end‑to‑end commercial, contractual, and strategic management of solar power projects, ensuring profitability, risk mitigation, and timely execution. The role bridges business, project execution, finance, and client management, with a strong focus on project P&L, contracts, claims, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Business & Commercial Management
- Own project P&L, ensuring margin protection and cash flow optimization.
- Lead project budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Monitor billing, collections, retention, and milestone payments.
- Drive cost optimization without compromising quality or timelines.
2. Contract & Claims Management
- Review and manage EPC / BoS / O&M contracts, including contractual obligations and risks.
- Identify, prepare, and negotiate variation orders, change requests, and claims (time & cost).
- Handle contractual correspondence, notices, and dispute resolution with clients and subcontractors.
- Mitigate risks related to LDs, delays, scope changes, and compliance issues.
3. Project Execution Support
- Coordinate with Project, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams to align commercial strategy with execution plans.
- Participate in project kick‑off, reviews, and steering committee meetings.
- Support resolution of execution bottlenecks having commercial or contractual impact.
4. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key interface with clients, lenders, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage client expectations related to commercial terms, timelines, and deliverables.
- Support business relationships for repeat orders and long‑term partnerships.
5. Procurement & Subcontracting
- Support finalization of major procurement packages and subcontract agreements.
- Ensure alignment of commercial terms with project cash flow and risk profile.
- Monitor vendor performance from a commercial and contractual perspective.
6. Compliance, Governance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contract terms, and statutory requirements.
- Prepare management MIS, dashboards, and monthly project performance reports.
- Support audits, lender reviews, and internal governance processes.
7. Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities
- Mentor and guide junior commercial / business team members.
- Support management in bid strategy inputs, lessons learned, and process improvements.
- Contribute to organization‑wide initiatives for standardization and scalability.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of solar EPC business models (Utility / C&I).
- Expertise in project contracts (EPC/LSTK), claims, and change management.
- Excellent financial acumen: P&L, cash flow, IRR sensitivity.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in tight timelines and fast‑track projects.
Qualification & Experience
- Education:B.E. / B.Tech (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil)
- MBA (Finance / Operations) – preferred
- Experience:Minimum 10+ years in solar / renewable energy projects
- At least 4–5 years in a senior commercial or project business role
- Industry Background:Solar EPC, IPP, Renewable Energy Infrastructure
