Lead – Stores (Floating Solar Projects)

Role Purpose
Own and lead end-to-end stores operations for floating solar (FPV) projects—ensuring right-stock, right-place, right-time with full compliance, traceability, and zero line stoppage. This role will steward materials unique to floating solar (pontoons, HDPE accessories, mooring components, SS/galvanized structures, PV modules, inverters, cables) and ensure robust controls in humid, UV-exposed, and near-water environments.
Key Responsibilities
1) Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Manage receiving, storage, issuance, and reverse logistics for FPV materials: PV modules, inverters, HDPE pontoons, walkways, mooring lines/anchors, SS/galvanized fasteners, combiner boxes, DC/AC cables, float accessories, junction boxes, SCADA & LV panels, PPE, and consumables.
- Implement FIFO/FEFO, ABC classification, cycle counts, yearly stock take, and variance closure with RCA & CAPA.
- Ensure specialized storage for IP-rated equipment, moisture-sensitive electronics (silica gel, desiccants), UV exposure management (covered yards), and corrosion control.
- Establish & maintain min–max/reorder levels, safety stock, and MRP triggers in ERP (SAP/MM or equivalent).
- Maintain serialization/traceability (QR/barcode) for modules, inverters, and critical spares.
2) Site Readiness & Project Interface
- Align daily with Construction, Planning, and SCM to support project schedules; ensure zero material-related stoppages.
- Prepare material kitting for raft assembly, stringing, mooring installation, and electrical termination.
- Plan on-water logistics (raft/barge loading, lifting plans, staging near embankments) with safety-first operations.
- Coordinate with QA/QC for incoming inspections, sampling plans, and non-conformance handling (NCRs, MRB, return-to-vendor).
3) HSE, Compliance & Audits
- Enforce 5S, safe stacking, aisles, and handling for heavy/oversized items (pontoons, modules, anchors).
- Maintain MSDS, hazardous material controls (batteries/chemicals), and lifting gear certifications.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001/14001/45001, and support internal/external audits, customer audits, and statutory inspections.
- Implement SOPs for water-proximate storage, spill control, emergency response, and electrical safety.
4) Documentation & Systems
- Operate ERP for GRN, MIGO, reservations, reservations-issuance, RTV, stock transfers, and subcontractor consumption.
- Maintain complete document trails: delivery challans, e-way bills, gate entries, inspection reports, and NCR closures.
- Publish daily/weekly dashboards: stock status, ageing, open PR/PO vs. requirements, forecasted shortages, and turn rates.
5) Vendor, Logistics & Cost
- Liaise with vendors/3PL for OTIF deliveries; manage inbound/outbound scheduling and demurrage avoidance.
- Support import/customs (if applicable), packing list verification, and Incoterms compliance.
- Optimize space utilization, racking layouts, staging zones, and handling equipment to reduce handling damage and cost.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Inventory Accuracy: ≥ 98% (cycle count & annual)
- OTIF to Site Execution: ≥ 95% against weekly plans
- Stock-Outs: Zero critical stock-outs (modules, inverters, mooring kits, pontoons)
- Material Loss/Damage: ≤ 0.2% of inventory value
- GRN TAT: ≤ 24–48 hours from physical receipt
- Aging & Dead Stock: Aging >90 days ≤ agreed target; dead stock minimized via redistribution/returns
- Audit Scores: ≥ 90% across QHSE and customer audits
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate (Engineering/Diploma preferred) in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial or Supply Chain.
- 7–10+ years in stores/warehouse management; 2–3+ years in renewable/EPC/utilities preferred.
- Hands-on with ERP (SAP/MM or similar), barcode/QR systems, and Excel reporting.
- Experience with marine/near-water logistics and handling heavy/oversized/UV-sensitive materials is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong grasp of inventory control, MRP, kitting, and project material planning.
- Knowledge of mooring hardware, HDPE pontoons/floats, anti-corrosion practices, and electrical materials.
- Familiarity with lifting plans, rigging, and on-water movement of materials.
- People leadership: supervise storekeepers, operators, and contract manpower; training & shift planning.
- Problem solving & RCA, stakeholder management, and crisp communication.
